Rendezvous in Burgundy

An original excursion which will make you to discover our village and our vineyard, exciting your gustative, olfactive and visual senses.

Dear Friends,
Welcome to our charming village of Savigny-lès-Beaune.

Our promenade today will take us to the outskirts of the village where we will climb hillsides, walk though forests and discover the vineyards.
Savigny has 530 hectares of vineyards, with tightly-planted rows of noble varieties of grapes which turn our countryside into an ever-changing, seasonal tapestry.
In the past, overgrown plots of land called 'topes' were mixed into this lovely tapestry of vines. Wine growers planted fruit trees which, with their spring flowers and colourful fruit, added an enchanting touch to the countryside.
We will also discover piles of stones here and there which attest to the chalkiness of our soil. Removing these stones every planting season has allowed wine growers to build low walls, small huts and houses called 'cabottes' or 'cabiottes'.
Savigny has 600 hectares of forests of oak, beech and pine trees as well as 160 hectares of uncultivated land?not to mention underground springs and the Rhoin river.

But, that's enough talking; follow the guidebook and you will discover our beautiful surroundings on your own. I have included several rest stops to restore thirsty travellers and to encourage you to continue.

Take your time and enjoy this lovely walk. I've ordered sun and good weather; let's hope it will be on the menu!!
Enjoy!
